One week after releasing footage from the largest undercover investigation in the dairy industry, Animal Recovery Mission (ARM) is showing new evidence of the daily, routine violence against mother cows.

Contrary to some official claims from the dairy industry, the cruel and systematic abuse of cows and calves at Fair Oaks Farms, is not the result of a few bad apples. These are not isolated cases, caught accidentally by the ARM undercover investigator. Unfortunately, this is a common widespread practice in the dairy industry and in the, allegedly humane, “Fairlife” corporation.

Systematically Torturing Mother Cows

The ARM undercover investigator witnessed several different types of abuse and violence against cows on a daily basis: kicking, punching, stabbing, shoving with metal sticks, hitting their udders, breaking their tails… Every day, 3 times a day, sick cows were forced into the rotary milking system. They were often suffering from infected udders, infected eyes, bleeding tails or afterbirth placenta hanging out from their bodies.

In spite of the numerous injured and downer cows, and the dangerous sanitary conditions for milk consumers, the investigator didn’t witness any medical attention given to cows.

The Reality of the Dairy Industry

Everything happening in the milking facilities is recorded by the surveillance cameras and overseen by the company management. However, nothing is done by the management to stop these violent acts.

This is specially outrageous since the Fair Oaks Farms and “Fairlife” corporation founder proudly states their mission is "making sure that our cows are treated humanely, and live in comfortable, stress-free conditions." The video also shows how the milking process is shown and marketed to innocent tourists visiting the facilities, while hiding all the horror from the visitors eyes.

Following the first part of this undercover investigation, that reached global news coverage and more than 8 million viewers in one week, worldwide consumers are protesting against the dairy industry.

With this second footage release, it is clear that the problem of violence against mother cows and baby calves cannot be solved firing a few violent workers. It is time for the whole dairy industry to stop and reconsider its treatment of cows. The enormous suffering caused to these friendly and peaceful animals can never be justified by the desire or appetite for dairy products.

Ultimately, we, as consumers, have the last word and the responsibility to continue or stop the demand for products that involve such cruelty and suffering.
