Germany: New Video Shows Workers Smash the Heads of Baby Piglets
In this sad video we can see the standard method for killing unwanted baby piglets in pig farms. This footage was filmed recently by Deutsches Tierschutzbüro inside a pig farm in Germany.
The workers grab the helpless baby pigs by their legs, and then continue to smash their small heads against concrete. The mother pigs that are inside tiny cages want to defend their babies but they can't move. And so, they are forced to watch the murder of their own babies. Forced to hear their cries of pain and their screams for help.
But why do pig farms kill baby pigs in the first place?
Almost all acts of violence in farms are done in order to earn more profits. In this case, farms want to get rid of all the small, weak and injured babies. This is because these piglets may not survive the horrible living conditions in pig farms, and may die before slaughter. As a result, workers look for these unwanted babies and kill them in the cheapest way possible.
The practice of smashing baby pigs against concrete floors (also known as "pig thumping") is common all around the world. Similar cases have been documented in the U.K., the U.S., Canada and other countries.
So what can I do to help these baby pigs?

Even though it sounds insane, the killing of calves is essential for the production of dairy and meat. The images are hard to watch, but it is vital that people see them.
Most pigs in Australia, as well as in several countries in Europe, are killed in gas chambers. A hidden camera shows what it looks like on the inside.
