A Shocking Look Into UK Pig Farming - A Nightmare for Baby Piglets
What happens when you put a hidden camera inside the third largest pig meat producer in the UK? But not just any pig meat producer, one that also carries a RSPCA Approved logo for high welfare standards?
This is what Animal Equality wanted to find out when they investigated 2 pig farms owned by East Anglian Pig company. As can be seen above, the extent of violence they witnessed was beyond horrendous.
To begin with, weak piglets were slammed to the floor and killed with iron bars. The killing of weak piglets is done in all pig farms, since piglets who are too weak to survive until slaughter are not worth feeding. In addition, the footage shows pregnant pigs going insane while locked in tiny cages.
What can be done to help pigs and piglets?
Since torture and untimely deaths are essential in any profitable pig farm, the best thing is to not eat meat. All in all, it’s all about supply and demand. If we demand less meat - that means less animals will be tortured and killed.
