Sadly, killing all the male chicks is an essential part of egg production and it happens all around the world. This occurs because these male chicks will not lay eggs, and since meat farms don't want them. From a business point of view, these male chicks are useless.

Workers in hatcheries sort out all the male chicks by looking at the length of certain feathers. The female chicks are sold to egg farms, whereas the male chicks are killed in various ways. Among the common methods for killing male chicks are grinding them up alive or suffocating them in garbage bags.
